At a time when the field of telecommunications in Greece is gradually recovering, companies are investing in new technologies and there is demand for skilled and experienced personnel.
Big telecommunication services providers in Greece in order to be able to provide their services (telephone, internet, video) to their customers immediately and reliably are in search of cooperation with technological companies of the private section.
Thus, the providers having set their own standards for the quality of their services, created evaluation mechanisms for the certification of their partners according to the technological support that they are offering
School Of Telecoms was created in 2012 as an educational organisation provider of technological certifications.Up to this day, 2,500 hours of seminars have been carried out, and the majority of the participants are now working in the technological field.
S.O.T. provides services of education and improvement of technical skills as well as consulting in the wider sector of telecommunications.
S.O.T’s credibility relies on the qualified teaching staff, the quality of the education given, as well as the high level of the trainees when they complete their courses.
The teaching team of lecturers consists of certified telecommunication engineers , holders of teaching competence, that apply innovative programmes and contemporary teaching methods.
QUALITY OF EDUCATION
While focusing on the preparation of candidates for certification exams, S.O.T. created fast track preparation seminars. These seminars provide in a short time essential and empirical knowledge to the candidates, that is based on working experience and active methods of teaching. Participants are given the opportunity to evolve, expand and reconsider the new information in the S.O.T.’s laboratory and apply it by working in small groups. Due to cooperative teaching they learn to work as a team and safely in real work conditions.
S.O.T.’s educational programmes are designed in order to provide useful and immediately applicable knowledge to all participants. They dont receive empty information, but they can think, plan and act according to the educational project.
School of Telecoms commits itself to:
Plan and develop educational services that respond to the uniqueness of each person and the demand of the market. Furthermore, commits to incorporate quality as theory and act, at every level of its tasks.
Participants are given the opportunity to attend classes through:
• Closed intragroup courses at the client’s facilities in Greece and Cyprus.
• E-learning programmes.
• Educational programmes that combine the benefits of classical teaching (the lecturer in the classroom), with the flexibility of e-learning. (blended learning)
The seminars are addressed to graduates or seniors of technological education who have already obtained the basic theoretical knowledge. Through the seminars they get the chance to digest the way the field’s companies are run and they are able to adjust to their demands. The participants are likely to be asked minimum working experience, depending on the type of seminar.
The seminars aim to transform the existing theoretical and practical knowledge in a way that each employee will respond and adapt easier to the companies and organisations he or she is going to work.
It is taken into consideration that adults already have different experiences, needs, perspectives, different interests and motives, and different theoretical knowledge. Teaching is conducted in Greek. Training material and certification exams are in Greek or English, depending on the certification institution.
S.O.T provides seminars for a wide range of telecommunication implementations and applications.
There are four main educational programmes.
- 1. Copper school (about installation, measurements and copper theory for telephone and internet services)
- 2. Fiber school (about installation, measurements and fiber optics theory for telephone and internet services)
- 3. Satellite school (about installation, measurements and satellite system theory for telephone, internet and TV services)
